Luke & Leia were victims of terrible neglect until they were removed from their home in DC. They were nothing more than fur and bones when they arrived at King Street Cats in Alexandria a few weeks ago. And now they are in foster care at my home. It has been a struggle to get them to eat since they were starved for weeks, or maybe months. It is unknown what cruelty was inflicted on them. Today I took sweet Leia to a veterinary clinic because she needed extra help to get her to eat. As I nurse them back to health, it amazes me how kind, gentle and forgiving they are. Neither have shown signs of disliking or being afraid of humans. It’s overwhelming to know that there are thousands of animals in a similar situation right now that need our help. Most days it’s just helping one pet at a time … but in this case, two. What small step can you take to help out victims of cruelty or neglect? Check back this week to find out or feel free to post a comment!
